A little bar called baraki.. on the corner of Lonsdale & Russell in the city. wonderful atmosphere, wonderful live music and wonderful people.
Remarkably inconspicuous from the outside, despite its highly visible location, Baraki is an unorthodox yet chic union of restaurant, bar and live venue. Indeed, Baraki is, at heart, a Northern Mediterranean styled bar and restaurant providing a modern, cosmopolitan blend of culture setting in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. Its versatility also means it caters for any sort of gathering, while its seductive European surrounds mean it's the perfect venue to take your girl or boy on that first, second, or four-year anniversary (whichever) date.
The intimate upstairs area, with polished floorboards and comfortable seating is an ideal location to retreat from the action downstairs and sample Baraki's incredibly highly regarded mezethes - the kitchen's undoubted specialty. The mezethes is prepared with something of a modern interpretation, while the selection of other Mediterranean dishes sees Baraki being the ideal destination for a late afternoon or evening nibble/drink/falling down session.
I attended Swag Fridays event to support my brother who was running it with a crew! There were three dj's who performed that night! I was blown away by the first dj who played the best mixes of old skool RnB and Hip Hop!
The venue was suitable for the dj's, its also suitable for bands and artists from all different genres!
There were no issues with sound, except tv screens turning off as the second dj was dancing around like a crazy maniac.
Suitable for ages 18-upwards.
